Atelier Adronie dedicates itself to the conservation and restoration of heritage objects and works of art. Due to our broad interests, we work multidisciplinary and therefore handle multiple material groups. We specialize in complex restorations that require just that combined knowledge.
Our main focus is on :
- Metal
- Wood
- Asbestos-containing heritage objects
- Paper in collaboration with restorer Eva Lecluyse
Conservation and restoration includes the preservation and restoration of the object itself, scientific research, advice and art handling.
We are a certified Class D contractor and certified for the treatment and removal of asbestos from heritage objects.
The name Atelier Adronie is a nod to our family heritage in Loppem. In 1912 Henri Osselaere (°1874 - †1940) built a carpenter's workshop in Loppem (which is still preserved) and worked, among other things, for the Castle of Loppem. His wife Adronie (°1890 - †1962) kept a grocery store open on the corner.
Henri is one of the civilian victims in Loppem during the Second World War. Their story has now been recorded in the book ' De dood kwam uit de lucht. Slachtoffers van luchtgeweld te Loppem in WOII.' 2024 by Patrick Arnou and Johan Verplancke.
A postcard from around 1925. On the right side of the street you see Adronie and her son Marcel sitting on the ground.
Isabel is the great-granddaughter of Adronie and Henri. She grew up in the same house.
She graduated with honours the master's degree in Conservation - Restoration at the University of Antwerp, specialized in wood and metal. During her internship abroad at the Croatian Conservation Institute
in Dubrovnik under the guidance of Nadja Lučić, she focused on polychrome wood. For her master's thesis she focused on polychromy on metal, specifically on painted natural horns by Courtois around 1840.
Due to a broad interest in materials, techniques and C/R, she further trained in the treatment of asbestos in heritage objects. We love to combine knowledge with our fellow restorers to work together on complex restoration projects with various types of materials.
